It is reported the rainy conditions are expected to last until Wednesday. Reports confirm more snowfall is also forecast over the high-lying areas of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The South African Weather Service issued an alert, warning residents to prepare themselves for snow, strong winds and persistent rain.

However, this has not deterred some snow enthusiasts from going in search of it.

Motorists have been strongly advised to delay trips or stay off the roads as sleet and mist causes poor visibility and dangerous driving conditions.

Some roads in the province are closed due to high snowfall.

Motorists are cautioned to keep updated, should travel be unavoidable.
