Special awards for special bowlers

Members are invited to join in the braai.

Members were all invited to a cheese and wine last Thursday evening to honour two club bowlers’ achievements. A special award was presented to Nan Roos and Sylvia Malan by immediate past president, John Davison and committee in recognition of their outstanding achievements at the National Bowls Championships in Pretoria, and in appreciation of their leadership and support as president and vice-president of the club. John Davison said they have certainly made the club proud. In previous National tournaments, Nan has won two gold and one silver medal in the ‘pairs’, a silver medal in the ‘singles’ and two silver medals in the ‘fours, and three times the ‘bridesmaid’ runner-up in the All Natal Open Singles champs. Sylvia and Nan were also runners-up in the ‘All Natal Open Pairs’. John Davison made a special mention in thanking Lourens Roos for his tremendous efforts as a fund raising convener, keeping greens and grounds in good shape and promoting the business leagues.
KZNCB AGM and trials
The KZNCB AGM and squad trials will be held at Dundee Bowling club on August 6/7.
Shed Business League
The Shed Business League has four rounds to go.
Tristar have a two-point lead with 14 points, Moths and Silver Fox on 12 points, The Shed and Willie on 11 points, Hesoms’ and Nems on 10 points.
Members and all friends remember to join in the braai on Thursday evenings. It’s a great evening.The Klus Civils Bowls Business League starts on August 25, so hurry to enter as there are only four spots left. Contact Lourens with your team on 082 875 5419.
Friday is Sunset Bowls and also the Pool and Darts Challenge from 3:30pm onwards.
