Firefighters immediately battled the blaze, and the fire was eventually extinguished.

Upon inspection paramedics, found two bodies trapped inside the vehicle.

“Due to the extensive burn wounds, both occupants could not be identified and were declared dead on the scene.”

It is believed the vehicle had been travelling from Memel en-route to Newcastle, when the incident occurred.

Local authorities, as well as the accident investigations unit, were on scene for further investigation.
