The Northern KwaZulu Natal u/19 Rugby team took part in the annual VKB Rugby Week that takes place from June 26 to July 1 in Reitz, Free State, Twelve Provincial and Sun Union teams took part this year and the rugby at display was of a high standard.
Noord Natal het hulle eerste wedstryd teen Suid-Vrystaat gespeel en wen 47-43 na prag-rugby gespeel was. Die tweede wedstryd teen die Valke Platteland span lewer nog beter hardloop op en Noord Natal kom terug om te wen op die einde met ‘n telling van 39 -35. Die finaal is betwis teen die Luiperde wat in 2015 gelykop gespeel het teen Noord Natal en die intensie was duidelik sigbaar. Noord Natal kom ongelukkig tweede in ‘n goeie wedstryd.
During the week there was also a Sevens tournament hosted by the local Spar. Northern Natal won the Plate final after some real power shown by the Sarel Cilliers rugby boys. Results where as follows: NKZN vs Eastern Province Platteland 19-17, NKZN vs Leopards 34 -14. NKZN vs Valke Platteland 52-14.
Sarel Cilliers would also like to congratulate Mike Mamabolo and Ndumiso Mlotshwa who were selected for the VKB Platteland team who will be touring Wales in the October holidays and Mauritius for an International Sevens tournament.
