Update: Suspects remain in custody for murder of elderly woman

The case was remanded until July 5

The two suspects charged for the murder of Zarina Moolla appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday) for a bail application.

The courtroom was once again packed to capacity, mostly with family and friends of the deceased, waiting eagerly to hear the outcome of the application.

Both accused made a brief appearance before the magistrate in B-Court, but the magistrate could not proceed with the application.

One of the accused initially wanted a private attorney, but yesterday applied for Legal Aid. Both will be represented by Legal Aid.

The case was remanded until July 5.

Family of the deceased have drawn up a petition to oppose bail to the perpetrators.

Zarina Moola was found dead by her domestic worker in her home in Gumtree Road, Smartiesville.
