Historical Society meets for a movie and a chat

They took the time to watch a film about steam trains

The fire was lit and kept at just the right heat while everyone went inside to enjoy the movie.

This was not just any movie, but rather one about history and trains; steam trains in particular.

This was the scene when the Ladysmith Historical Society held their monthly meeting on Friday, where they all bring a “chop” and have a chat. They took the time to watch a film about steam trains and then had a lovely social braai.

They have their meetings at the Old Toll House in Settlers Drive and everyone who is interested in history is invited to  join, young or old. Some of the members of the society are registered tour guides and if they discuss the Anglo-Boer War, for example, they have an outing the following day to point out all the battle sites and other places of historical interest.

Meetings are held on the third Friday of every month. They hope to see you there!
