Breakwaters Back To Glory Days

Aiming to settle a score, Breakwaters regrouped and added the Grand Challenge Trophy.

When the Angling Professional League (APL) season commenced, little did the officials and members anticipate that the season would be such a closely contested one with internal competition amongst members being so intense as well as competing against other clubs. After six rounds of league competition, Breakwaters were crowned as the VME League Champions. The next hurdle was taking on the mighty Challengers in the Transnat Knock Out Final at Richgate Park on May 15. Challengers displayed sheer determination and their efforts yielded success as they beat the mighty Breakwaters by a solitary point which set up the perfect scenario for the Grand Challenge.

Aiming to settle a score, Breakwaters regrouped and added the Grand Challenge Trophy to their collection by beating Challengers 49 points to 35 points. The title holders for Breakwaters and Stillwaters for the season 2015-2016 are Terrence Chetty (heaviest scaled fish – a carp of 3,650kg and heaviest non-scaled, a Barbel of 9,005kg); Vicky Bhooli (heaviest Scaly of 840g); Uthveer Buduram (heaviest eel of 1,750kg); Ethan Burger (rare specie, a Kurper of 625g and Junior Angler of Year); Roshan Ramphal (Social Outing Champion – scaled category); Sikhander Amod (Social Outing Champion – non scaled category); Shane Mangaroo (Knock Out Singles Champion); Monty Slabbert (Highest Point Scorer and Knock Out Champion); Shakeel Sheik (Grand Challenge Champion); Talia Boodhoo (Lady Angler of Year); Kidd Rampersadh (Senior Angler of Year); Kaveer Singh and Ashvir Singh (Knock Out Champions Doubles) while the standout angler was Kaveer Singh who received the coveted Angler of Year Trophy, together with Most Fish Caught and League Champion titles to his belt.

The new season starts on August 1. Details: Terrence Chetty on 076 822 4930 or Monty Slabbert on 082 391 6324.
