There is peace for the Lukhele family

Normandien farmer refuses illegal burial on his farm: The Lukhele family can finally bury their deceased family member following a disagreement with a Normandien farmer.

NORMANDIEN – The Lukhele family grieve again. Last week, the family buried their sister-in-law, Nomgqibelo on the Normadien farm Madeira. Now, they mourn their sister.

Farm owner, David Cloete initially voiced his dismay at the burial of Ms Lukhele on his farm last weekend.

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform warned Mr Cloete not to interfere with the proceedings.

The Lukhele family plan to hold another burial ceremony on Madeira this Saturday for their sister.

Sibongile Lukhele, age 37, suffered kidney failure and passed away earlier this week.

In a pre-emptive move to avoid the same stumbling blocks they experienced last week, the family wisely contacted the offices for Rural Development and Land Reform for assistance to ensure their sister’s burial this Saturday will go unhindered.

The Department issued another friendly warning to Mr Cloete not to interfere with the Lukheles’ right to bury their sister.

“I have no problem with Ms Lukhele’s burial on my farm this weekend, as she did reside on the property,” said Mr Cloete.
