Fifteen armed men were reported to have entered the Dundee Boulevard Centre
Captain Nqobile Gwala, police spokesman, has shed some more light on the drama that unfolded at the Boulevard Centre this morning.
Captain Gwala said that police had initially received a complaint of a business robbery and upon their arrival, they noticed that a wall and ceiling board was damaged but that nothing was taken.
They then noticed that explosive had been attached to the interior safe of the Nedbank ATM.
Fifteen armed men were reported to have entered the Dundee Boulevard Centre in the early hours of Monday morning.
Witnesses said at least two security guards were pushed into the toilet – one guard from the Centre and the other from a nearby garage.
