Golfers take on cancer challenge

The men's A division saw Henk Booysen scoring 40 individual points

Thursday’s club competition at Dundee Country Club saw almost forty golfers take part in the individual medal stableford format with prizes being kindly sponsored by EVO Lubricants.  Lady golfer Mareza Ackerman scored 43 points to be the winner on the day, with Barry Sandy finishing in second place on 41 points followed by Walter Du Plessis in third place on 39 points.

The Sanlam Cancer Challenge took place on Saturday with 38 golfers contributing to this worthy cause and competing for a place in the regional finals. The men’s A division saw Henk Booysen scoring 40 individual points to win his division with the ever consistent Walter Du Plessis finishing in second place, three points behind on 37 points. Mandla Mthethwa was an easy winner of the men’s B division scoring 42 points, some eight points ahead of second place Coenie Munro.

The men’s C division was won by Razak Khan on 38 points with Leon Wellman finishing second. The ladies B division winner was Ronel Purchase on 32 points with Dolly Bradbury winning the ladies C division. The winners of each division will now travel to Victoria C.C. in Pietermaritzburg in August to compete in the Regional Finals, and the club would like to wish them all the success. Forthcoming golf fixtures to diarise: June 25 an I.P.S. Club Competition and July 1 will see the second 10 Hole Cross Country golf challenge starting at 2pm. On the social scene,  Friday evening, July 1, will see another “Beer Pong” competition starting at 6pm. Entry fee is R120 per team of two players and interested contestants are to contact Bianca on 076 193 5491.
