Transnet gives back to local schools

A 100 shoes were donated to both schools. Each school identified 50 learners who were in need of new school shoes.

Two local schools, Thalana High School and Livangeli Primary School, benefited from a self-less donation drive initiated by the Transnet head offices.

The donation drive – ‘Shoes on Feet’ – which took place across all the Transnet offices across the country resulted in over 500 pairs of school shoes collected by Transnet employees.

Transnet CEO, Siyabonga Gama born and bred in Sibongile, visited his hometown along with a Transnet team to give back to the local primary and high school.

Thalana High School principal was very grateful for the kind donation. “Thank you so much for what you have done for us,” she said.

Gama offered a few inspirational words to the school children, stressing the importance of education, creating jobs and the future.

“The future of this country is with you – the youth,” he said, adding that all hope lay in their hands.

He closed off by humbly stating: “Transnet is happy to donate shoes.”
