Discarded cards retrieved by resident

"Some of these cards expire in 2017, someone may be looking for their cards"

When Daniel Schultz senior was confronted with a stranger who threw a handful of cards into his yard, he was baffled by this strange act.

He was busy outside his home in Railway Street when a man, who was described as clad in black clothing and carrying a red bag, did this.

Mr Schultz picked up the cards and was startled to find that among them were bank, South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa) and medical aid cards. “Some of these cards expire in 2017, someone may be looking for their cards,” said a concerned Mr Schultz.

He reported the incident to the police and was not deterred when he was told to discard the cards.

“The officer told me that the man was a mental patient and that I should throw the cards away but what if they were stolen during a robbery?” questioned Mr Schultz.

He has since sent the cards, amounting to 20, to the police station. If anyone has lost these cards, please contact the Estcourt Police Station.
