Tip-off leads to arrest in Weenen

Following up on a tip-off, Weenen police arrested a 34-year-old man on Sunday evening.

Armed with the information, members of the Pietermaritzburg Public Order Police arrived at a premises in the Msobotsheni area.

“The man was found in possession of an unlicensed rifle that was loaded with two rounds of ammunition. Police also found 10kg of loose dagga in his possession,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

The estimated street value of the seized dagga is about R15 000.

The man was arrested and charged with being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as being in possession of dagga. He appeared in the Weenen Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
