No link between DCC Jesus Dome fire and terror threats?

Fire likely caused by electrical fault, but investigations are continuing

Firefighters were on scene at a massive blaze at the Durban Christian Centre,  popularly known as the Jesus Dome, and confirmed that no injuries or fatalities had been reported as a result of the fire. However, a policeman who was knocked down close to the scene was transported to hospital and is in a stable condition, say our sister paper The Rising Sun Overpoort.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care said the fire was successfully extinguished, and commended the Durban Fire Department.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown, with reports received claiming that it was an electrical fault.

No links to recent terror threat warnings issued by the US and UK Embassy to its citizens travelling abroad about South Africa have been found.

“When I saw the fire, all I thought about was the terror threats levelled at South Africa. The JCC is such an iconic Christian building,” said a reader who phoned in to the Ladysmith Gazette.
