Cops bust Loskop ‘chop shop’

Amangwe police arrived at a premises in Emoyeni where they found two people cutting up a vehicle

In the small village of Emoyeni in Amangwe (Loskop), sinister crime deals have been taking place.

Police believe that a ‘chop shop’ is operating and pounced on the suspects last Wednesday. A ‘chop shop’ is a location or business, which disassembles stolen vehicles for the purpose of selling them as parts.

Acting on information, Amangwe police arrived at a premises in Emoyeni where they found two people cutting up a vehicle. The police’s presence sent the men literally running for the hills, as they fled into the nearby mountains when men in blue tried to apprehend them.

“Police gave chase but the two managed to evade capture,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

Subsequent investigations have revealed that the vehicle being disassembled by the two men was reported stolen from Johannesburg in May 2016.
