Weekend marred by vehicular tragedy

One person has died, and seven others injured in collisions over the weekend.

NEWCASTLE – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on the N11 on Sunday night.

Robert Mckenzie, spokesman for KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) said the incident occurred approximately 30 kilometres from Newcastle.

The cause of the collision has not yet been determined.

“Two occupants of the car were seriously injured, while the motorcyclist sustained critical injuries. KZN EMS paramedics performed CPR but he did not respond.”

The 35-year-old motorcyclist was identified by sister publication, Ladysmith Gazette as Ramesh Ramdhani, known also as Shaun, Ramoo and Beans.

The tragedy of Sunday was followed by a vehicle overturning on the R34 Monday (May 30), about 10 kilometres outside Newcastle.

Mr Mckenzie explained this resulted in three people sustaining serious injuries.

Two others in the vehicle sustained minor injuries, and the cause of the collision is yet to be determined.
