Police make arrests for firearms and dagga

The dagga has an estimated street value of around R90,000

A suspect appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court for possession of dagga on Tuesday after being arrested the day before in the Emadolobheni area, Amangwe.

The 27-year-old was found in possession of five bags and two plastic containers of dagga weighing in at 55.78kg.

The dagga has an estimated street value of around R90,000.

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old suspect appeared the same day in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court.

He was arrested on Monday at about 11am in Dukuza, Upper Tugela, found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol that was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

On Sunday, a 22-year-old man was arrested in Limehill, Ekuvukeni, for possession of two rifle rounds. He appeared in the Ekuvukeni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition.
