Estcourt police arrested a 36-year-old man on Thursday for handling a firearm while under the influence of liquor.

At about 8.30pm Estcourt police officers were attending an unrelated complaint in Bougainvillea Road.

While on the scene they noticed a group of three males walking along in the road. All three were clearly intoxicated. Police then heard a firearm being cocked and noticed that one of the men had a firearm in his hand.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and his firearm seized.
