Friday is the day for the ANC to get together

The crowd grew larger as ANC supporters gathered at Wimpy Park this afternoon for an ‘ANC Friday’…

At about midday, the ANC Women’s League embarked on a march from the Town Hall down to Wimpy Park, where activities were planned to take place.

One of the supporters stated that the day was for all ANC comrades to see that they are a big family and to bring them together.

A second march was held at about 3pm when other supporters and members marched from the ANC offices in Murchison Street to Wimpy Park.

Regional spokesperson Mlungisi Ndlangisa commented that it was just an average ANC day, as this is just part of the programme they have been running since the voter registration date.

“The ANC work every day to campaign for their party, but Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are the time they do the most work, and every Friday is ‘ANC Friday’,” said Mr Ndlangisa.

When asked how he, as well as other ANC members and supporters, felt that Julius Malema was in town, Mr Ndlangisa said, “I was not even aware he was coming into town until this morning. It does not give us goosebumps, as all parties are currently active and it is just a normal day for us all.”

The entertainment started at approximately 4pm, as the programme was running a bit late (it could not commence at 1pm as planned), and ANC members waited for others to knock off work.

Artists such as Lvovo, Professor, DJ Merlon and Zakes Bantwini were booked for this ‘ANC Friday’.

They also stated that one of the next ANC events to look forward to will be the Mini Rally tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am at the intersection of Newcastle and Helpmekaar Road.
