Woman’s Day prayer at Methodist Church

The message to the ladies present was that they must be willing to live for God, trust in His will and way, and be fearless

An inspirational Woman’s Day prayer service was held at the Methodist Church on Friday.

The message that was imparted to the ladies present was that they must be willing to live for God, trust in His will and way, and be fearless. The congregation members took it upon themselves to pray for strength and hope for all women around the world, and an end to the suffering of women and children in different parts of the world.

The service was led by Ds Magdalena Marais, who delivered a powerful sermon. After the service, tea was served in the church hall, where all the women could sit and chat to each other.

In 2011, more than 100 countries around the world took part in the 100th anniversary of International Woman’s Day on March 8. Also in 2011, the Red Cross took a stand and called for people to take action in protecting girls and women against sexual violence that harms the lives and dignity of countless women around the world.

In 2014, the UN adopted the International Woman’s Day theme ‘Equality for Women is Progress for All’. Then, in 2015, the UN had the theme of ‘Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!’

This year, International Woman’s Day theme is ‘Planet 50-50 by 2030: step it up for gender equality’.
