Arrested man escapes from hospital but is re-arrested

He is believed to have feigned illness in a bid to get admitted to hospital and there plot his dash for freedom

A Glencoe man, who was arrested on Friday for beating up his estranged wife, managed to escape from Dundee Hospital after he told police he was ‘suffering from pain’.

The man, who cannot be named as he is yet to appear in Court, was taken into custody at Glencoe Police but is believed to have feigned illness and taken to hospital.

On Saturday evening, nurses told police who were on guard outside his ward, that he had ‘some how managed to run away’.  But his freedom was short-lived.

He was re-arrested hiding in the wardrobe in the Glencoe house his estranged wife occupies.  He is now in custody in Dundee Prison.  His wife is facing charges of defeating the ends of justice.
