Italian Anglican Bishop visits Estcourt

Bishop Gabriel is an Italian-born Anglican Bishop and a former Italian Roman Catholic Priest, who came to South Africa as a missionary in 1987

St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Estcourt Parish was graced by the presence of the Anglican Church’s Diocese of Natal Bishop, Dino Gabriel on Sunday, January 31.

The congregation warmly received Bishop Gabriel and hung onto his every word.

The church was filled with a lively spirit.

Bishop Gabriel is an Italian-born Anglican Bishop and a former Italian Roman Catholic Priest, who came to South Africa as a missionary in 1987.

He later joined the Anglican Church in 1992 in the Diocese of the Highveld.

Bishop Gabriel is married to his Swazi wife Elizabeth and the couple have four children together.

He was Dean of the Diocese of Zululand from 1999 to 2005, and was the Bishop of Zululand from 2005 to 2015.

The fluent isiZulu speaker was elected Bishop of the Natal Diocese in July last year.

He praised Father Madoda Khumalo for taking good care of the Estcourt Parish and encouraged the congregation to continue building their beautiful church.

Bishop Gabriel’s sermon reflected on seven tasks, which assist a Christian to lead in the church.
