Correctional rehabilitation embarks on a clean up project

Nongoma Correctional Centre embarked on a clean-up campaign at Ngangayiphi Primary School in Nongoma

Nongoma Correctional Centre embarked on a clean-up campaign at Ngangayiphi Primary School in Nongoma on January 13.

This followed a request by the principal of the school to head of the centre, Stanley Nhlakanipho Zungu.

The proposal was sent to Ncome Management Area Commissioner Director, Jabulani Zikhali, who approved the request. Prisoners were given the chance to transform the school grounds into a safe place for the school children. The clean -up continued for the next two days.

The principal of eMkhindini Primary School in Melmoth, followed suit on January 14, and reached out to Melmoth Correctional Centre for assistance in getting their school grounds in order.

Mr LG Dladla, head of the centre in Melmoth, subsequently contacted Ncome Management Area Commissioner Director, Jabulani Zikhali, who authorised that the prisoners from Melmoth Correctional Centre help the school and give back to the community as part of their offender rehabilitation programme.
