UPDATE: Dannhauser Mayor’s daughter identified as victim of fatal crash

Five people have died when an SUV and a light motor vehicle collided on the R621, between Newcastle and Dannhauser earlier this morning.

ER24 paramedics who arrived on scene reported the deceased were trapped in the vehicle.

As reported by sister publication, Northern Natal Courier, it is believed the Mayor of Dannhauser, Jabu P Phakathi’s 18-year-old daughter was among the victims who died in the collision.

It was confirmed that a teacher from Emafusini in Dannhauser was also killed.
