Dundee Hindu Temple ready for Thaipoosam Kavady 2016

Donations, Kavady and obayam payments will also be collected over the 10 days of the festival at the Dundee Hindu Temple.

The Dundee Hindu Temple wishes the community a blessed and peaceful 2016. “We hope and pray that spiritually and culturally we will be more enlightened and that each person’s hopes and dreams are realised in this new year,” said Geetha Dookhi, Hindu Temple secretary.
The year begins with the Thaipoosam Kavady Festival and to all those who are carrying kavady, we wish you everything of the best and may all your prayers be answered.
Take note of the following dates:
Friday, January 15: Flag Hoisting 5.30pm
Saturday, January 16: Pdt. Chunelal Narine of New York at 2pm

Tuesday, January 19 : Hanuman Jundha at 6am
Friday, January 22 : Kumbu Abeshegam at 6pm
Chariot Parade at 6.30pm
Saturday, January 23: Navagraha Shanti at 6am
Thirukalyanam at 6pm
Sunday, January 24 : main and public Kavady a8am
Flag dehoisting at 1pm
Important notice for all devotees: Obayams, Paal Kodums and Kavadies – R40 each All devotees carrying Kavady on the Sunday, January 24 – main Thaipoosam Kavady – please note that your strict fasting should commence on Friday, January 15.
It has been decided at a council meeting that the Dundee Hindu Temple Youth Group will do the collection drive this year. Donations, Kavady and obayam payments will also be collected over the 10 days of the festival at the Dundee Hindu Temple.
As a mark of goodwill, obayams have been included in the program for all those devotees and well-wishers who commit themselves to this undertaking every year.
The payment for your obayam can be made at the temple during the 10 days of prayer.
“Raffle sheets have been distributed and are being currently sold. The prizes for this raffle will be announced during the Kavady festival.
