Pet safety for New Year’s

If your pets are the kind that scare when fireworks go off, go to your nearest vet and get a calming pill for the evening before Christmas and New Year’s Eve

Not all people are animal lovers, but if you are and you have pets, here are a few tips to keep your pets safe and to be safe around your animals this festive season.

1. Be certain your pets get their vaccinations to prevent rabies. This will keep them safe, as well as you.

2. If you have family coming over, be sure to introduce the animals to everyone.

3. If your pets are the kind that scare when fireworks go off, go to your nearest vet and get a calming pill for the evening before Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

4. Make sure no one feeds your pets food from the table, as they could be allergic to certain foods.

5. Tell everyone not to pet the animal when it is sleeping or eating, as it could make the animal feel threatened and want to attack.

6. If your pet has had babies, keep clear of the area the babies are in, as the mother has a protective instinct towards her young.

7. If you are out and about and you see a stray animal, do not go near it, as it may have rabies, Alternatively, it may not be comfortable around people and you could be bitten.
