Tents blocking off public road gets temperatures up

Flat owners were left 'shocked' by the blocking of the road

Tents pitched up on Oxborrow Street, near Dundee High School yesterday, for a wedding left the owners of a block of adjacent flats ‘shocked and surprised’ when they discovered traffic signs blocking the road.
Tony and Sherlee Wade said they ‘had no idea’ that permission had apparently been granted for the pitching of two tents that blocked off access to Oxborrow Streeet from the Tatham Street entrance.
“This morning we had to go through cordon off tape to get through…. The amount of rubbish, liquor bottles strewn around was simply appalling. What’s more large tent pegs were driven in the tar to pitch the tents. Who is paying for the damage and how come we did not know about this?,” an angry Mrs Wade told the Courier.

When the Courier visited the scene early this morning, an attempt had been made to pick up some of the refuse but a collection of discarded bottles and other rubbish still littered the area.
Those who spoke to the Courier said they had been a wedding as far as they knew, permission had been granted by the municipality and they could not understand what all the fuss was about.
