BREAKING NEWS: Mongoose found slaughtered and hung

Slaughtered and hung on a fence in FW Beyers, near Majuba College, for all to see.

This was the grisly sight awaiting journalists and the Newcastle SPCA earlier today, when a dead Slender Mongoose was found. It is believed the animal was killed for medicinal purposes.

According to SPCA Inspector, Elize Van Rooyen, the animal was hung in plain sight on purpose.

“This is a sick act! Why would someone do this and leave this animal like this for everyone to see?” she asked.

She said this type of behaviour was not acceptable. “It is not okay to harm any animal, for any reason!”

Ms van Rooyen appealed to the community to contact the SPCA with information, should anyone know of animals being slaughtered for medicinal or other reasons.
