Putting “leaking” water to good use

The resident started collecting the water and using it to water his garden

Rose Park resident has turned a water leak problem around to benefit himself after numerous phone calls to uThukela proved to be in vain.

For more than two weeks now, the fuming resident has watched as clean water pours out of a burst pipe.

“With our water outages and water-shedding, burst pipes and leaks should be a main priority for uThukela. Every drop counts, so where are they when this sort of thing happens?” questions the irate man.

Seeing water wasting every day, the resident (who asked not to be named) decided to use the water for his own benefit.

He started collecting the water and using it to water his garden.

“Instead of wasting the water, why shouldn’t I use it for something more important? uThukela is certainly not interested in coming to fix the problem,” says the angry resident.

“Yes, I know we are not allowed to water our gardens with a hosepipe, but am I doing anything wrong?

“The water is being used for a good cause, which our municipal employees don’t seem to be able to grasp,” he adds.

Up until now, the water leak has not been fixed and the resident is still saving the water and using it on his garden.
