Prevent your vehicle from being looted

Simply locking your car isn't enough. Before leaving your vehicle make sure anything of value is not in sight

On Wednesday, October 14 Linley Roberts noticed that his vehicle was forcefully entered into and ransacked. Mr Roberts notice his bag of various tools was stolen as well as his work bag containing his Identity Document and other important documents.

Mr Roberts considers his Albert Street yard secure, yet the culprits still found a way to get their hands on the items. More often than not, culprits don’t have much time and tend to grab what they can and leave.

Simply locking your car isn’t enough. Before leaving your vehicle make sure anything of value is not in sight. Early this year a high number of theft from motor vehicles and remote jamming cases was reported to the Estcourt police.

Mr Roberts is appealing to the community to be vigilant when parking and locking your vehicles, and to take any steps needed to avoid your vehicle from being targeted.
