Sewage leak leaves stinky trail

One resident who lives less than ten meters from the leak says it has been left unattended for about three months

Relief has settled upon Ninth Avenue residents who have been tolerating a smelly sewage leak.

A manhole at the corner of the street that joins with Eighth Avenue has been spewing its vile contents onto the street for months. One resident who lives less than ten meters from the leak says it has been left unattended for about three months.

Finally, last week, the leak stopped. Residents say that they did not see any staff from Uthukela District Municipality repairing the smelly leak.

“I think it just stopped on its own,” said one resident.

However a filthy trail remains and so does the stench in the warm air.
