Car gutted by fire on N3
There were two occupants in the car, but they managed to stop and get away in time
A Mercedes-Benz was completely destroyed when it caught alight on the N3 near the Tugela River on Tuesday afternoon.
The Mercedes was travelling towards Johannesburg when it started to smoke on the highway.
There were two occupants in the car at the time, but they managed to stop in time and get away before the vehicle could burn.
The Merc started off just smoking, which later turned into a huge blaze. The vehicle was completely wrecked.
N3TC, RTI, the Ladysmith Fire Department and a towing service responded to the scene.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames and the vehicle had to be towed away.
