A case has been registered at the Mondlo police station after a woman was caught on video brutally assaulting a nine-year-old boy.
According to the report by the Northern Natal Courier, the MEC for Social Development, Weziwe Thusi, has expressed horror over a video showing the brutal assault of the child, by his neighbour. The woman accused the boy of stealing a cellphone and money from her.
In the video, the woman, who also carries a firearm, ties the child to a pole with a rope and beats him up with a sjambok and later a stick. She also strangles him. The woman also threatened a neighbour who tried to stop the brutal assault.
The woman was arrested after the boy’s foster mother opened a case against her. The boy has been removed and taken to a place of safety.
