As a project of KZN Museum Services, the KZN Department of Culture (DAC) held a tour of the Siege Museum and historical heritage sites around town towards the end of last week.
KZN Museum Services supports 44 museums in the province and has four training centres. They support local museums, and facilitate groups to go and learn about the different museums.
People from around NKZN visited the Siege Museum last week and were taken on a tour by historian / tour guide Liz Spiret.
The group had an enjoyable visit at the museum and learnt about Ladysmith’s rich history. Many photos were snapped and questions asked about the wars fought in the area and what role Ladysmith played in the battles.
The group gained a deeper understanding of Ladysmith and what the town was like at the turn of the century (1899-1900).
