Billy and Vlooi shine in Mixed Foursomes

The Northern Region Ladies Golf Union held their Mixed Foursomes competition.

The Northern Region Ladies Golf Union held their Mixed Foursomes competition at Vryheid on Sunday and the Dundee Country Club was well represented with sixteen of our golfers competing.

Congratulations to Billy Francis and Vlooi Slabbert who finished in third place and also to Joe Khumalo and Debbi Catlett who were right behind them in fourth position in a field of 21 teams.

Saturday’s Club Competition, played in the multiplication format, was won by A Mbatha and P Mbatha on 68 points. In second place was M Bradbury and L Shawe on 61 points with S Mthembu and H Grieson winning on a count out to come third on 60 points.

There were only four players who managed to card a two Club, Walter Du Plessis and Lionel Shawe both on number four, Billy Francis and Willie Maritz both on number 12.

The Friday 10 hole meat competition saw nine players participating and winning the meat hamper with an excellent 26 points was S Mthembu. This coming weekend sees four of our lady golfers travelling to Richards Bay to compete in the KZN Ladies Inter Club and the club would like to wish Lorein, Debbie, Dolly and Mareza all the best and hope they play well at the coast.

Players are reminded of the Wednesday nine hole Chicken Run and the Friday 10 hole meat competition that needs your support.
The Club’s major annual fundraiser, The Dundee Corporate Classic, is only a month away and the club requests all local businesses to get involved.

The entry fee for a team of four players, which includes all meals on the day, is R2 500. Kindly contact the club on 034 214 1000 for further details. The club competition for this Saturday will be individual stableford and all members are reminded to come down to the club to support our boys in green and gold as they take on the All Blacks in the semi-final of the Rugby World Cup.
