27 arrests during crime prevention operations

"These arrests will send a clear message to the community that police are adopting a zero-tolerance attitude towards crime"

A staggering 27 people were arrested during crime prevention operations carried out in the Ezakheni area recently.

The operations were conducted from October 9 to 12 by Ezakheni Detective Services and the Crime Prevention Unit.

12 people were arrested for assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, two for sexual assault, one for residential burglary, and one for theft. In addition, one arrest was made for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for possession of drugs, one for possession of a counterfeit money note, one for interfering with police while performing their duties, and seven for drinking alcohol in a public place.

Recoveries included a gearbox to the value of R5000, dagga and a R200 counterfeit bank note.

Ezakheni Station Commander, Colonel VS Dludla, commended the officers on their efforts and expressed the hope that these arrests will send a clear message to the community that police are adopting a zero-tolerance attitude towards crime.
