Week-old water leak distresses resident

A persistent water leak in Cliff Road has some residents anxious about the amount of clean water being wasted.
For about a week, water is running from a pipe leak, which according to a resident, was reported on several occasions to Uthukela District Municipality.
However, no repairs were done and the leak continued unabated on Monday morning.
“It is distressing to know that most parts of KwaZulu-Natal are experiencing a drought and yet in Estcourt, clean water is going down the drain,” commented the resident.
The resident was advised to contact the Uthukela Environmental Health Officer who recently called on readers via the Estcourt News to report unattended water leaks to him.
The number to call is 076 062 6306 between 8am and 3pm Monday to Friday if you have reported a water or sewer leak to the Customer Care Centre and received no assistance within 48 hours.
