Man arrested for robbery

Police are currently investigating a robbery case following a recent incident on Boundary Road.

While conducting patrols in the area, police noticed a robbery in progress. They pursed the suspect and managed to arrest him shortly thereafter.

A stolen cell phone was recovered from the 25-year-old culprit, who recently made his first appearance before a local court. The outcome of the proceedings is yet to be disclosed.

Burglar caught in the act

A local tuckshop was recently burgled, prompting residents to take matters into their own hands.

The burglary apparently took place on October 9 at about 8pm.

The victim claimed they heard a noise, and upon further investigation, they caught the suspect in the shop.

The victim, along with others members of the community, detained the perpetrator and contacted police.

Officers arrived and arrested the 25-year-old suspect. He is expected to appear before a court soon.

Stolen vehicle recovered

Police were summoned to John Parks Avenue on October 9, where a motor vehicle had reportedly been stolen.

According to the victim, he left his motor vehicle and went into a local store. When he returned, his discovered his car was missing.

Furthermore, he claimed he did not lock the car’s doors before entering the store.

Upon further investigation, police managed to locate the abandoned vehicle at a block of flats in town.

No arrests have been made to date, however local authorities are following every possible lead.

Officers to investigate aggravated robbery case

Newcastle police are currently investigating a case of aggravated robbery.

This follows an incident that occurred at a local shopping centre on October 9.

According to police, an undisclosed amount of money was taken at gunpoint, after the victim withdrew cash at an ATM.

The suspects reportedly searched his pockets, and made off with the money.

SAPS spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela issued the following tips to help prevent similar incidents:

– Have someone keep a lookout while you withdraw cash.

– Avoiding walking around with large amounts of money in your wallet or pockets.

– Swipe your card wherever you can.

– Avoiding answering your phone, or allowing others to distract you while you withdraw money.

– Look around to see if anyone followed you from the ATM. Be aware of your surroundings.

– Make sure you memorize your pin code. Never keep it written down.

The abovementioned cases are currently the subject of police investigations.
