Date set for SARS opening
With premises at the Victorian Mall on Scott Street, the branch will allow residents to register for tax, complete returns and submissions, have tax cleared, make enquiries with Tax Practitioners.
The Newcastle branch of SARS opens its doors on October 19.

Free tax workshops are also planned.
In the past, Newcastillians had to take time off to visit SARS branches in Standerton and Pietermaritzburg for any tax-related business.
Fortunately, this hassle will be a thing of the past.
Johan Pieters of the Newcastle Growth Coalition confirmed in September the location and a prospective date for the new SARS building.
He explained the location was chosen based on foot traffic in the area.
SARS is expected to become the second-biggest tenant at the Victorian Theatres complex, and the business community has welcomed a boost to local coffers.
“Not only will the branch staff from SARS move to Newcastle, but people visiting the branch will make a day of their visit. Restaurants, malls, filling stations and more will be well supported.”
