UPDATE: Willem Weites case

“We believe that justice will be served”

COURT has adjourned for lunch and is set to return at 2:00pm at the Vryheid Magistrates Court to continue the case of executed dairy farmer Willem Weites.
This morning the daughter of the deceased Evelyn and her mother took the court through details of what happened on the day that Weites was shot dead while rescuing his daughter from knifemen.
Everlien Weites told the court of how she was assaulted by one of the suspects and the difficulty she went through dealing with the trauma thereafter as she also had to witness the death of her father who was shot in the head and chest.
An emotional Gerdina Weites, the wife of the late Willem Weites also testified to how the suspects had kicked her until she became unconscious on the floor during the incident.
One of the suspects who pleaded guilty has been called to appear before the Magistrate after lunch.
Three suspects pleaded guilty (one of them died during a shootout in Gauteng), while another two pleaded not guilty.
All four will be appearing before the Magistrate within the next two weeks as the case continues.
One of the Weites daughters, Dina Weites says that the family is positive that things are going to go well.
“We believe that justice will be served,” she said.
