INKANYISO Special School would like to extend a warm welcome to Ntokozo ‘Webster’ Nkosi, who started as a Sign Language assistant this year in July at Inkanyiso.

He is more than capable of using this beautiful language accurately. As a deaf person, he is a great asset to the school and his enthusiasm seems to be contagious among all the learners and staff. Ntokozo is helping children who are deaf, mute or both to learn Sign Language as a means of communication.

In this process of learning, as we all know, we learn much faster by involving all of our senses. Spar has made a tremendous difference by assisting with food and theme-related material. Spar also generously donated a birthday cake recently, whereby the children were able to learn to sign the Happy Birthday song in Sign Language under the instruction of Mr Nkosi, eat muffins like an English person and open up a whole new world of words for each one of these children as they learn more about Sign Language each day.

Progress is slow in this class, but not impossible, thanks to the generous and caring people at Spar.
