Burglary case solved before incident was reported

The homeowner was contacted by police, but was completely unaware of the fact that his house had been broken into

Acting on a tip-off, Ladysmith Community Service Centre (CSC) officers, assisted by the Ladysmith K9 Unit, recently arrested 3 burglars in Egerton Road.

3 men aged between 25 and 26 years old were arrested after they were found with power tools, jewellery, cell-phones, a multi-pad, DVD players and televisions in their possession. The recovered property is valued at about R50,000.

It was later established that the suspects had broken into a premises in the Hospital Park area. The homeowner was contacted and informed by police. At the time, he was completely unaware of the fact that his house had been broken into and his property stolen.

Detectives investigating the case are confident that the suspects will be linked to other cases that are under investigation by Ladysmith Detective Services.

The suspects have appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on charges of housebreaking and theft.
