The Battlefields Carnival, October 30-31, brings to town a tasty menu of music, art and fun.  Arranged by former Dundonian, Oscar Zulu, and his dynamic team, the idea behind the Carnival is to unite ‘the rainbow nation in a celebration of art, music and culture’.

“Dundee is known for its historic battlefields.  The Carnival aims to bring people here not only to view these historic battle sites but to take in the musical offerings in a jazz evenings over two nights at the Royal Country Inn featuring Nduduzo Makhathini, Mandla Mlangeni and the Amandla Jazz ensemble.

“At the Oval, top musicians such as Sipho Hotstix Mabuso, Feya Faku and many others.”

“We live in a unique country, in a unique town.  We aim to  celebrate the people of South Africa through music, art and culture. Our carnivals promote social cohesion and appreciation of cultural diversity.

“Dundee is the place to celebrate our culture, music and art.  In a previous visit to Dundee and took the liberty of going to a church bazaar in Strathmore Park and I saw what beautiful needlework the farmers’ wives are producing.  We want these crafts people to sell and display their handwork at the arts and craft stalls to be put up in the town gardens adjacent to the municipality on Saturday morning, October 31.

“In addition, there will be story telling and books will be on sale.”

There will also be a float parade through town in the morning followed by the music festival at the Oval sports ground.

“This is a celebration of our South Africa.  Come and be part of it and let Dundee lead the way in uniting our nation under an umbrella of music, art and culture.” For more go to www.dundeecarnival.co.za
