Water-shedding: Latest update

No water this afternoon, say uThukela

After an urgent meeting with role players, including big business and community organisations, uThukela has confirmed that there is no quick fix to the water crisis.

They also confirmed that initial predictions that they could provide water in the mornings and evenings were overly optimistic. At best, they will only be able to provide water once every 24 hours.

Currently, the areas affected will receive no water today, but only tomorrow morning from about 4am to 10am, when the water supply will be cut again to refill the reservoirs. Until there is enough rain in the catchment area to see a full and free-flowing Klip River once again, this will remain the status quo.

We will update the story later will a more in-depth analysis on how this affects industry and domestic users.
