Shepstone Place blossoms this weekend

Prepared to be blown away by the pure creativity and natural flair of the arrangements that are set up around the Home

It’s that time of the year again when Shepstone Place Home for the Aged blossoms with all things bright and beautiful. The Garden and Flower Show will be springing into place this Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4 at the Home.

Prepared to be blown away by the pure creativity and natural flair of the arrangements that are set up around the Home. From messages to loved ones who have died to inspiring Bible verses and beyond, the floral arrangements make one marvel in the natural beauty while interacting with the friendly staff and residents at Shepstone Place.

Tickets cost R20 per person with refreshments included and all funds raised from the Garden and Flower Show is ploughed back into Shepstone Place to grow and develop. On Saturday the show is open from 9am to 4pm. At 3pm the popular Milady’s fashion show will have the audience applauding.

On Sunday the show opens at 9am and concludes at midday. When asked why people should attend this colourful fundraiser, Home Administrator Debbie Potgieter said: “It is a wonderful way to interact with all kinds of people. We, firstly, advertise the Old Age Home, we want to show to people what we do here and try to take away the stigma of negative thoughts from general old age home care. Our residents can see other people and hopefully have a chat or two with other people. It is also a way to show your respect and appreciation to our elderly. It is absolute fun fundraiser event.”

Everyone is welcome to make an arrangement, there is no theme, so let your imagination go wild! “It’s a wonderful platform for people to express themselves. People who would like to make arrangement can contact the Home,” added Mrs Potgieter. To book a ticket or for more information on how you can get involved, call Debbie on 036 352 2191.
