Man hijacked, robbed of cash

It is believed the victim was followed from a bank after drawing money

A Dundee businessman was robbed of a substantial sum of money when he was hijacked on Tandy Street this morning.

It is believe that he was followed from a bank where he had made a withdrawal.  He then drove to Tandy Street where his workers are renovating a flat.

Witnesses said that a vehicle with a NJ plate dropped off a man who approached the businessman while he was sitting in his car.  The left hand passenger’s window was smashed and the robber grabbed the bag containing the cash.

He was then picked up by the NJ car (believed to be a Toyota) which was driven towards Sibongile.  The businessman gave chase in his bakkie and at one point managed to ram the side of the getaway car in a bid to force it to stop.

However, the driver made a getaway.  Police, who were busy monitoring an EFF march in town, were soon on the scene and a manhunt has been launched.
