Dundee golfers clinch Northern KZN B league

On a sad note the Dundee Country Club commitee and members would like to pass on sincere condolences to the family of Farouk Adam, a long standing golf member, who sadly passed away last week.

Mandla and his team out golfed the rest and won the N.KZN Golf ‘B’ League.
Playing their final game on Sunday against a strong Vryheid team they were unfortunately beaten 11-7, their only defeat for the season, but were still able to hold onto the top position, Well done gents for a successful season.
The B1 League team suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of Kilbarchan Golf Club, going down 13-5 and unfortunately ending their season languishing near the bottom of the table.
The Frog team travelled to Vryheid to play against Vulintaba GC for their final fixture and the pairing of Barry and KP enjoyed their second comfortable victory in succession, winning their games six and five, while team mates Danie and Willie were able to hold off their opponents in a tight finish to end their game all square.
Dundee, as a result, won the match with a 3-1.
On Saturday, the club hosted a fund raising golf day for players competing in the KZN Golf Inter Club Tournament next month.
A good field of 45 players enjoyed the overcast conditions and winning the competition on 46 points were, Brian Du Toit and Barry Sandy, narrowly beating the ladies pairing of Debbie Catlett and Dolly Bradbury with 45 points.
They managed to count out Mandla Mthethwa and Clement Chawanda who also scored 45 points to finish third and in fourth place saw the father and son pairing of Louis Albertse and Louis Albertse (jnr) on 43 points.
The nearest pin novelty prizes went to S Ndlovu no 4, B Venter no 8, M Gardener no 12 and K Roets No. 16.
There were a host of two clubs carded and the following had a share in the prize money: L Albertse, M Gardener, B Venter, K Roets, B. Du Toit, D Bradbury and R Purchase.
Dates to Diarise: The squash section will be hosting their prize giving for the Doubles Tournament tonight, (September 23) and all players who participated are requested to attend. Thursday is National Braai Day and the club has braai facilities and packs on sale.
This coming weekend the Battery Centre Tournament will be held over two days, Thursday September 24 and Saturday September 26. The Diehards will also be performing on September 26 at the club from 8pm. Admission is R30 pp.
