Robber sentenced to 15 years imprisonment

The sentence was welcomed by the Cluster Commander Brigadier Reynders as well as the Station Commander Colonel Kheswa who commended the members for their hard work

On Thursday, August 13 28-year-old Sbusiso Cyprian Dlamini was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Rajen Jaichand was on duty at Epol, in McFarlane Street on December 24 at about 7.40am when the accused attacked him at gun point. Mr Jaichand opened the front loading door when the accused appeared wearing a security guard uniform. The man pointed a firearm at him and led him back into the office.

The accused was accompanied by two other unknown suspects who forced Mr Jaichand into the office and demanded money. In the office Mr Jaichand was asked to hand over the safe keys to the men and when he resisted they assaulted him with a firearm.

Eventually the suspects managed to flee with a sum of R50 000 from the safe. A case of armed robbery was opened at Estcourt Police Station and Detectives managed to secure an arrest and sentence.
