Pharmacy Week to encourage healthy living

Newcastle Provincial Hospital's pharmacy dedicated Pharmacy Week to educating patients using chronic medication.

To create awareness about chronic medication during Pharmacy Week from September 1 to September 8, Newcastle Provincial Hospital focused on educating patients.

Rishta Deeplal, a community services pharmacist, said through the use of educational posters and pamphlets patients could peruse, they were taught the correct way of using chronic medication and the appropriate diet to follow. Pharmacists also gave patients practical advice on ways to lead healthier lives.

“People often take it for granted that patients on chronic medication are fully aware of what they need to do, but this was just a way to draw their attention,” she concluded.
