MYO 2015, A big sucess with Dundee’s U\11 champs

Newcastle Court Sports Association (NCSA) as well as SAFA for their support. The countdown for MYO 2016 has already begun.

The twelfth annual MYO soccer tournament took place this weekend at Paradise grounds.
Youth from as far as Kroonstad, Estcourt, Volksrust, Ladysmith, Ermelo, Vryheid, Dundee and Newcastle participated in this popular event.
To the youth this was called ”the Newcastle World cup” and all teams chased for glory, but at the end hearts were broken for some, while others soaked up the glory of the day. Three divisions were the category for the day and kids as young as five-years-old made sure they were counted in under the 11 and under age group who played on the astro courts.
The other division were the under 14 and under 17 who competed on the bigger grounds. The rainy weather did not dampen the spirits of the youth and they were out in full force to reap the silverware that was on offer for the day.
The day was well supported by parents and well wishers. NCSA brought in two free stylers who were on show at the astro courts and entertained the crowd and players with a few skills and showed off what one can do with a soccer ball. Each division offered different categories of winners at the end of the day.
The under 11 player of the tournament was awarded to 9-year-old Dawood Adam of Newcastle, while the under 14 player of the tournament was claimed by Abdullah Moolla of Islamic College Newcastle. Hasan Sader of Ladysmith took home the under 17 player of the tournament.
The under 11 final between Dundee and Siratt ul Haq of Estcourt left spectators voiceless and indeed was the match of the day. Dundee managed to steal the the game by defeating their opponents by a single goal. The under 14 division was claimed by defending champions Vryheid who beat their opponents Newcastles Uncabooth by a solitary goal.
The under 17 division final was contested by Newcastles Al qaidea and Volksrust Islamiya.
The match reached a stale-mate at the end of normal play and headed into a penalty shootout. Managers of both teams were more on the edge and supporters of Newcastle prayed for a win as the last time the town saw silverware was in 2007. It all boiled down to the goal keepers that could help the team to victory. Derryl Naidoo of Newcastle made the save of the day to ensure that Newcastle secured the win and claimed glory.
The awardee for the highest goal scorer of the tournament went to Sandile Buthelezi of Vryheid.
The day was long ,and players and managers complimented the organization on hosting a spectacular event which brings communities of all race and religion together on one playing field. MYO thanks all supporters, well wishers and donors who contributed in cash or kind.
A big thank you is extended to Portia of Newcastle municipality who assisted in the preparations of the venue, Newcastle Court Sports Association (NCSA) as well as SAFA for their support. The countdown for MYO 2016 has already begun.
